Mom, I got two letters from you this week and two dear elders the week before. I love getting mail. I don't really care if it is old news. haha.
So this week I learned how to cook rice and I can make a mean meal with rice. This week I made an egg tortilla looking thing. I put taco seasoning on the rice after i cook it and it is delicious. Also something funny is I found out that i Love avocado. I think it was just the weird green color and texture but it is actually quite refreshing. Here they call it pear. I ate that with my tortilla. Ok now i feel like i am just rambling. That is one thing about Jamaican food is it is making me fat fat fat. This week i had to go to the doctor and there was a scale there so I weighed myself and i was 195. I was 185 when i left the MTC!!! So i am not going to eat fast food as much anymore and cook more haha.
Oh yeah the reason i went to the doctor was this week i was making me lunch and I was proceeding to make me a corned beef sandwich. So I got the can and I don't know what it is about these corned beef cans but I just can't figure them out. So I try to use the idiot proof can opener that they put on the can and i just break it off. So after much thought i concluded well I have an actual can opener here so why don't I just use that. So i am using this can opener and three twists into it the can opener breaks. So i have it all cut out but a little spot here and there so being the bright person that i am i get a knife and i put a little to much umph into it and it pops and cuts my finger. So i hencforth am bleeding and it really didn't hurt at all but it was bleeding pretty fast and Elder Grant runs into his room to grab his first aid kit and takes forever. I am just watching myself bleed and i start to get light headed. I was so mad that the sight of my blood would do that to me so i run into and grab my first aid kit and get it stopped. Well I call sister Hendricks to tell her what happened and she said to go get it checked out. So i do and the doctor looks at it and says " That's just a baby scratch". I felt pretty pathetic. Well that is that story.
So yesterday after church the rains came and came and came and came. I have never seen so much rain in my life. All of our appointments cancel and there is no one to street contact because if you go into the street the water would just wash you away. So I send a text message to the zone leaders that says ," What happens if it is raining really hard and our appointments cancel? Find?" haha They thought it was funny. Well the rains subsides soon after that and we go to one of our investigators, Ann Marie. While there the rain comes again, and we take cover in a shop. After about an hour and a half of down pour the rain stops for a minute and we leave. We are on our way home and in town is like a war zone. People are under anything they can find and at the intersection the water had washed out a street drain and a taxi had driven right into it so the front half was under water. Then as we are leaving town there is flood area. We stand there for a while scratching our heads how we are going to get through. The water is probably knee deep in the shallow areas. The only soloution was to grit our teeth and ride our bicycles through it. The water was almost up to our knees while we are on our bicycles. As we get going there is a car that went through the deep part and it had water up to its windsheild and the engine stalled haha. poor guy.
