How is everybody doing this week. Well for me it has been pretty crazy!! We finally got the bikes fixed but let me tell you what this bike I have is comparable to a baler that is always breaking down. It kills me, and it is such a rare bicycle that nobody sells parts to it especially in the small town of Old Harbour. Well we had the plumber in our house a bunch this week to fix water leaks too. Last night was crazy.
The affects from the hurricane hit Jamaica last night and the lightening and thunder was unreal. It was the loudest i have ever heard it since i have been here in Jamaica. Elder Montgomery had always talked about it but I had never heard it as loud as he described. It shook the whole house and woke me up multiple times last night. It pretty well rained and stormed all night.
We had a lesson with a man who requested to meet with us one day when we past by his house. When we first saw him he said., " I need to talk to you two." it was when Elder Montgomery was still here. Well we met him this week and he just wanted to hear our message so we went a head and started teaching. In the middle of it he asked. "So are you Saved?" I said if i endure to the end of my life i can be saved. His argument was that all a person needed to do is believe in Jesus and he will save you, and that what you do on earth doesn't matter as long as you believe. He just kept talking in circles and wouldn't let us talk. Finally i said that we had to get going and i bore him my testimony and just so everyone knows it is hard to argue with a testimony. All he could say was that I was wrong and we left him with that. It was very aggravating.
Guess who has been out for 4 months already?!? ME!! haha it is going by really really fast. I don't even know what to do about it. It is so true about what President Hinkley's dad told him. "To lose yourself in the work." I'm thinking about getting some ice cream today to celebrate.
Yesterday morning we got a text message from Ann Marie saying that she wasn't going to make it to church. So we called her and asked her why. By the time we were off the phone with her she said she would still come. So on our way to church we stopped by her house to make sure. She promised right there she would come. Well we get to church and sacrament goes by, no show, Sunday school goes by, no show, relief society/priesthood goes by, no show. It was super depressing. We stop at her house after church and her husband says she isn't there. We see her later that night going to her church. I don't know what to do about it. Oh well, all we can do really is teach doctrine and invite and then the choice is up to them.
Well i love you all and am so glad to hear from you again. Keep being the great people you all are and know that i love each and every one of you. Stay positive and know that no matter what we go through we need to rely on our Heavenly Father.
Love Elder Stuart
