How is everybody doing this week? I hope great. This week in Jamaica has been awesome. This mission is the best mission in the World haha. I had a trade off this week with Elder Deihl. He is really cool and funny. We had a few really good lessons while he was here.
I can't believe another week has gone by. Weeks are flying by. We had a lesson one day this week with a lady named Miss Fogah. She is a nice lady but I don't think quite understands why she is meeting with us other than she knows we are servants of God. Well in our first lesson we had with her her son was there. He is a RastaFari. The whole time he argued but not with us. With his mother. It was secretly kinda funny because we weren't the ones being argued with. Well we had another meeting with her yesterday and taught the restoration and it was good. Hopefully she comes to church.
Also this week we had our main investigator at church, Ann Marie. We saw her on Saturday and said she wasn't going to make it to church because she was asked to take care of somebody. Well we had a really good lesson kinda like a testimony lesson. We all bore our testimony's and invited her to bear her testimony about the restored gospel. It was awesome. Well at the end of the lesson we invited her to go inside and read a little from the book of mormon and then to pray and ask Heavenly Father what she should do. I also said a little prayer for her. Well we get a text message that night that goes like "I will be at church tomorrow, I just prayed and asked Heavenly Father and he answered me. Right after I prayed I got a phone call (from the people who wanted her to work) that i must come tuesday instead." It was a pretty cool experience. It gave a whole new meaning to 1Nephi3:7. She ended up being at church and loved it.
Also this week we got Yelled at by some rasta's (Rastas - (Jamaica) a Black youth subculture and religious movement that arose in the ghettos of Kingston, Jamaica, in the 1950s; males grow hair in long dreadlocks and wear woolen caps; use marijuana and listen to reggae music) about how Christ is not the son of God and Mary was not a Virgin. I straight up asked him if he was going to continue to deny Christ like that and he was definitely taken back for a second and then continued to yell at us. Can't even bother with people like that. All you can do is continue to be as Christ like as possible.
Well I love you all and can't wait to hear from you next week. And to everybody else don't be afraid to send mail :) hint hint hint :)
Love Elder Stuart
PS the picture is me with my Lasco Vanilla Soy Mix. It is the closest thing I can find to milk. They have 100 Percent Cows milk is all and anything else would be super duper expensive if they had it.
| Elder Olsen making festival (a really good desert thingy) it tastes like the bread on a corn dog but better. |
