40 Day Fast, Blessings from obedience.

Hello Everybody,

How is everything this week?  Here in Jamaica is the best as usual. We are thrusting our sickle and doing our best to reap. The companion is doing good and so are the other two goons who we live with haha. They are all awesome.

This week we have had some cool experiences. On Wednesday we had Zone Meeting and there were some really good motivating lessons taught. I learned so much. One thing that they focused on was "Purifying yourself". I suggest everybody to try this if they want to be more spiritual. They had a personal experience from a guy but I wont go into too much detail about that. What you do is step one you do a full fast for two consecutive meals and while fasting make a list of everything that pokes at your spirit. Maybe it is pride, maybe it is forgetting to pray, or it might even be not reading your scriptures everyday. The list could go on and on. Trust me my list is huge. Once you have made that list and you are satisfied with everything on it you close your fast and covenant with God that you will fast from everything on that list for 40 days. Meaning that for 40 days you will do the good instead of the bad. Every morning ask God to give you strength to fast from those things and at night thank him for his help and let him know specifically what you failed at if you failed and let him know you will keep trying. In the story the person said that after he made his list the natural man did his best to make him fail but somewhere between the 25th and 30th day the things on the list became easy. And by the 40th day you have complete surrender to the the holy ghost or to God's Will. Well, that is what I have started and I can already see the blessings. I know one thing and that is that I have a long way to go but it will be worth it.

A cool experience that happened this week is that we were at the church and just go blown out by an appointment that was supposed to meet us at the church. It was 6:00 and dark and we were 15 minutes from anywhere to go tracting. It was very tempting to just stop but obedience came into the picture and we both knew that we needed to do something. So we are headed out with no direction at all. It is dark we are exhausted and I guess I know I was thinking "woe is me". Well then a thought came to me. "What is the most purpose centered thing we can do? see an investigator or potential investigator." Just as I had this thought we passed a street where we met someone the other day (a potential investigator named Akeem). So I stopped and it turns out Elder Egan had the same kinda thought. So we called him and he said "come now!!" We went there and we had met with two of his friends already but this was the first time meeting with him. They were all there. We ended up teaching them the Restoration and it turns out not only had Akeem read the restoration pamphlet we left him but he had studied it. We extended baptism dates to all three of them and they all accepted and they all came to church the next day. Moral of the story is always do what you are asked to do and you might affect somebody's life the way Christ would have you.
Well everything else is good. I love you all and I love hearing from you.

Love Elder Stuart
