Hello Family and friends!!!
How is everybody this week? From the looks of it everyone is doing great. So for starters yes the tropical storm Ernesto has been heading for the island. Last night was pretty crazy the rain and the lightning was ridiculous and it seemed to go on all night. We had to go to the store and get a bunch of food storage and also fill everything that we had that would hold water up with water. We were expecting a hurricane for a couple days and then yesterday we found out that it was turning for south America. Last night the power went off for a couple of hours and I didn't know that it would get that hot in the night without a fan constantly blowing hot air on me but it definitely made me appreciate the fans.
Also we got the transfer call on Saturday about where we are going and who we are going with. Well they said Elder Montgomery was being transferred to Idaho of course. :) and that i was to wait on a call from President Hendricks. Well it felt like forever and he finally called at like 8:30 and we got the initial call at 6:40. Come to find out they don't know who my next companion is because I'm gonna be training!!!! A brand new elder from the Provo MTC is depending on me to show him the ropes when i barely know them myself. It has definitely got me stressed out but at the same time I am super excited. I hope I can be able to accomplish this task but one thing i know for sure is it is going to take a lot more help from above and any kind of effort i can put into it. I find out Wednesday who I am getting and also get him on Wednesday. Elder Montgomery's flight leaves on Thursday Morning and he doesn't land in Idaho until 11:00 that night. He has a long trip ahead of him but he is excited.
Also this week i got to try the Jamaica National dish Ackee and Saltfish. It was really good but very fishy i'm sure you can imagine hint: the name. Ackee is a fruit that looks like and has the same texture as eggs but doesn't taste like them. Also i had dumpling and planton and yam with it. They didn't have any bread fruit. They said for it to be the true Jamaican national dish it needed bread fruit.
Yes I did literally hear that the two fastest Man and Woman in the world are from here. It was really funny because we were walking to a members house and all of a sudden we heard from every direction every house cheering, whistling, horns going off. It was really funny and then yesterday walking to an appointment after church we hear everybody cheering. It made me Laugh.
Also we were in KFC the other day and the tv was on and they were doing the mens 400 m hurdles and the Jamaican was winning and then on the home stretch the American caught him and won. I didn't know whether or not i would get shanked if i started cheering so all i did was smile and laugh and all the Jamaicans were ticked. haha it was really funny. Well that is all for this week. I can't believe another one has gone by. I love you all and can't wait to hear form you next week.
Love Elder Stuart
Also, Mom and Dad received an email from Parker's Mission President. It was pretty neat so I included it on here. Hope you are enjoying this blog!
