Family and Friends,
As you can tell from my subject line that it hasn't been very dry lately. The whole week was nice and dry and but when Sunday came we were unloaded on. Yesterday morning not 30 seconds after we left our house it started down pouring on us. It is a 30 minute walk to the church from where we live. By the time we got the the church there was nothing on us that what dry. Luckily I put my scriptures and a couple of book of mormons in a plastic sack and my camera and stuff were in the middle of my bag so the case was a little damp. I have been carrying letters around that are supposed to go home to the family and they were wet. So when you get letters hopefully I can send today they will look as if they have been wet before. It stopped raining while we were at church and as soon as we left it starts raining on us. We have to keep going because we have appointments. Well our next appointment is a 15 minute walk in this down pour. And we just got somewhat dry in church. Well we get to our first appointment and they wont come to their door. Here in Jamaica we holler at gates and not knock at doors. So we are stuck hollering at this gate in the rain and nobody is coming. So we went to a members house who lives close by and called all of the other people we were supposed to see and they all said not to come. So we gave the members we were with a lesson and talked with them for a while, and waited for the rain to stop enough for us to walk home. It didn't stop until about 6:00, so we found on our way home with no luck. This morning we woke up and it wasn't raining and at about 7:00 it starts again. It rains more than i have ever seen it rain in my life. We could barely get to the internet cafe to email you. The road was literally a river knee deep. Our neighbor saw us contemplating what we should do and he gave us a ride half way across and we waited and waited at this roadside bar that was closed and then finally another person showed up and gave us a ride. So now we are emailing haha.
This week was a really down week because at the start of the week both Elder Montgomery and I were sick. We think we ate something that we shouldn't have. I got over it Thursday night Friday morning and Elder Montgomery was sick yesterday. I know this email sounds really depressing but it really isn't. I'm having a super good time even though it rains on us a little. We had a really good day contacting less active members. We are really trying to strengthen the branch here because it is just like anything. If it is built on a strong foundation then it will stand but if it is built on sand it will wash away. The stronger the branch is the more likely the converts will stay active.
Anyways i love you all and hope you all are healthy and doing well. I wish i could send a little bit of this rain your way!!!
Love Elder Stuart
